ALT fluctuation

Hello to everyone! I was diagnosed with HEP B 20.09.2024, though HBsAg was first positive in April 2024( I hadn`t known about it till September). PCR 150 IU/ml, HbsAg 2073 COI, HbeAg 0.08, ALT 25, AST 24, GGT28, Fibroscan 5.6 kPA. These are my Lab results in September… My doctor told me I am inactive carrier and no treatment needed, No alcohol since September. And today I did my blood test at 11-00 am and results showed ALT 36.16, AST 36.44. GGT 20. Am I getting worse? Could that increase of ALT/AST be connected with later time I did my test? What should I do next? Thanks for help

Hi @Yevhen,
I am not sure what standard is used for your labs, but ALT and AST of 36 are not high but rather within normal range (ALT is 0-45 IU/L and AST is 0-35 IU/L). This is nothing to worry about. Also you do not have to worry about a one time elevation or increase, rather when it continues to stay high for some time then that will be concerning. Relax, take a deep breath and exhale. These numbers can go up and down from time to time, just be aware of that. Best, Bansah1

You’ll know when HepB is active and is attacking your liver AST/ALT levels will jump from your lower numbers to hundreds and even thousands and keep climbing with or without any symptoms.
On a positive note, if it’s HepB that’s causing the high ALT/AST and not some other health complications then getting in antiviral quickly will bring those numbers back to normal range. That’s why getting checked regularly and being monitored by a doctor is recommended.

Thanks a lot for your replies! I appreciate your attention. Sorry for my English. I am new on this Forum cause only for 3 months I have been aware of my Hep b. Still way too much worried and depressed.

Hi @Yevhen,
I hear you. It is normal to feel that way after being diagnosed. Anyone who has been diagnosed can tell you that was their experience as well. You are not alone. It is hard initially, but we adapt better down the road. Do not stress so much about the diagnosis since you cannot change what has already happened; but you can change the projection of the disease by taking care of yourself, being monitored regularly and living your life as best as you can. One day at a time. We are here for you. Keep us posted. Bansah1
