This topic is for sharing tips and tricks on navigating the forums.
Dear all,
I’ve been getting a few Emails about the issue of new users not being able to post in a new topic.
Why am I not able to post a new topic?
This is not a bug, but a feature of the forum. You first must go up to Trust Level 1 before being able to post a new topic (more information here Understanding Discourse Trust Levels). Basically trust levels are a way of automatically determining how experienced you are in the forum. The more experienced you are, the more you can do in the forums.
How do I go up a “trust level”?
You gain the ability to post topics at Trust Level 1. To get there, you will need to spend at least 10 minutes reading the other posts on the site (at least 30 posts and 5 different topics). This is to make you double-check that your answer hasn’t been answered yet, what the culture in the forum is like, how best to interact with others, etc.
Please post any questions you have about this below.
Thank you for understanding,
Thomas
