Hello you all lovely people, hope you’re all doing well.
I’m Nick 35 years old from Australia.
Years ago I found out I’m carrying a hep B, never been sick or have symptoms, only some issues with cholesterol. Because of the cholesterol I did some other blood test and found HepB.
ALT = 24
AST = 35
HepB e antigen (Qual) : negative
HepB surface antigen quantitative : 320 IU/mL
Viral load 1370 IU/mL
HepB e Antibody : positive
Since I found the HepB i stopped drinking alcohol and smoking.
I’ve been exercising a lot, basically everyday and eating well.
At the same time I’ve been gaining muscle mass.
My question for the experts is :
am I doing well ?
Is my immunity strong enough to fight the virus ?
Yes your body is doing a pretty good job of controlling your HBV infection. Your HBV infection is at a stage we call “inactive” which is also known as partial cure. In your case the development of liver disease is rare and the risk of liver cancer is reduced compared to active chronic HBV.
Good job on giving up drinking and smoking , and eating healthier. Not an easy thing to do.
I don’t know any extra blood tests you can do but I’m not a professional. I have lived experience, approximately 40 years.
Have you had an ultrasound or fibrosis scan?
And I’m guessing you already know to have, six monthly blood work and ultrasound?
I’m loving your proactive and positive approach to this disease. @availlant@ThomasTu@Bansah1
Hi @nick, welcome to the forum and always great to have another Aussie on board.
It sounds like you’re getting the appropriate blood tests for monitoring. As @caraline mentioned, it’s good to get an ultrasound and fibroscan of your liver to monitor the condition and see if there have been any past injuries.
I’ve done an ultrasound last year and comes back with a " mild fatty liver" , which honestly I don’t know if was about the HepB or my dangerous life style (alcohol, ice cream, pizza … bla bla )
While right now my body weight is around 76kg, pretty much lean.
I have another appointment on January and hopefully everything is going to be ok😅
I have no idea if fatty liver is reversible and how long it may take to get back in normal liver condition.
Fatty liver is definitely reversible, particularly in its early stages. However, this generally comes about from long-term practices (such as diet and exercise habits over the last decades) so the time is needed to make lasting change. Don’t let this discourage you, every small bit helps!
