Hepa B positive/chronic

Hi,

I have hepa B, 38 years old. I came from the philippines but living now in the Netherlands.

I am still very upset/sad/worried of my condition.

My lab test is ok.
Below 50 virus level.

I have a husband who love me .

I really wanna have a chance to work/study here as nurse. I have open it up with my specialist and she strongly advise me to take medicine. I will begin next week entecavir.

I have taken last 5 years ago for a year the tenofovir. That time, I am pregnant with my first, after I give birth I ask my specialist, if I can stop it, because I feel always sad/depressed, and she’s ok with it.

The drugs felt like always a reminder of my condition.

This site, is helping me to realize I am not alone.
it is part of me now, and that I need to take extra care of my self.

Greetings,
Des

Dear @Des_Pal,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your experiences. It’s great that you have a supportive partner and that your lab tests are good. A lot of us have been in the same boat as you and share the sadness and anxiety associated with having hep B. But it gets better with time.

Please keep us updated on your journey and know you also have the support of this community.

Just diagnosed at 47 i was tested during pregnancy at 14 years old but parents were told it was fine no follow up required. I have had all blood tests and liver scan. My Dr says that i probably don’t need treatment just waiting on liver scan results. My liver function was good. Dr seems to think I either got it vertically or at a very young age.
Needless to say im shocked, and terrified and pretty angry that I’ve been living my best life not knowing. Now asking myself what this means for me and my grand children. My son 37 was vaccinated, re vaccinated in high school and jabbed again 7 years ago when he went to china.he and his partner had sexual screening 2 years ago and tested negative his partner is not vaccinated but has just received her first dose after my diagnosis.
My grand children 5 and 9 are both vaccinated and were tested for immunity. The 5 year old is immune but 9 year old isn’t.
Can he get a booster shot? What risk am I to the 9 year old.

Hi @Midnightstar,
I hear you. Thank you for sharing your story. You are not alone, you will get through this. Many of us understand what you are feeling, but it gets better with time. Sure, my view is that the 9 year old should be able to get a booster shot. Vaccination is the best protection you can give them and get it done as soon as possible. Aside from making sure you limit instances where blood contact could be possible. It is stressful having to worry about infecting others. I hope once he gets the booster he will develop immunity, so you don’t have to carry the burden of worrying. Keep us posted. Best, Bansah1

I got my results my doctor is saying I have low virus levels. I have no clue what they mean.

Hi @Midnightstar,
Your test confirms your hepatitis B status and the possibility of it being a chronic infection since you were negative for AntiHBc-IgM. The HBV viral load or DNA is used to measure the amount of virus one has in their blood. And your doctor is saying that you have a low amount of the virus in your blood per your test results. This is good as it possibly indicates no replication (virus multiplying). The lower one’s viral load the better. It reduces the risk of severe liver damage. I hope this helps. Bansah1
