Hello, friends! I hope you are all well.
While researching improvements in my quality of life as a chronic HBV carrier, I came across this article that discusses the relationship between vitamin D levels and viral load. I would like to know if this relationship is true or if it is still speculative.
Dear @La.sciamachie ,
Indeed there have been a few studies which have correlated high HBV viral loads with vitamin D deficiency. The role of vitamin D in HBV infection or its effects against HBV infection when taken as a supplement have not been adequately studied to make any definitive comments on this. For certain, vitamin D supplementation should never be attempted with the expectation of achieving functional cure - this cannot happen - and aggressive vitamin D supplementation should never be done unless under the supervision of a physician.
However, vitamin D is an essential co-factor which is consumed in the activation of t-cell function and other immunological processes. Additionally, the “flu season” which occurs when the sun is at its weakest in the winter is well correlated with declines in vitamin D levels. This is because exposure ultraviolet light (normally from the sun) is required for the production of vitamin D3 by the body.
So it makes good sense in general to make sure your vitamin D3 levels are optimal and it certainly
will only be helpful for HBV.

Thank you very much for your always generous attention, Dr. @availlant.
My interest in fact would not be to supplement but to exercise outdoors (I live in a tropical country) to maintain health and the best conditions of my body. And your explanation corroborates my initial thoughts. thanks
