Niacin - Vitamin B3

Hi everyone,

I wonder if our experts here could give me some pointers.

I have a skin condition - Actinic Keratosis - and read about the use of niacin in helping to reduce the appearance of lesions. The latest studies carried out in Australia look fairly encouraging (vitamin B3 helped reduce AK significantly in 26% of the cases), but I’m reluctant to take 500 mg a day until I talk to my healthcare provider. From what I’ve read, niacin might impact general liver health even when taken in quite small amounts.

What do you think about this?

I look forward to hearing your views.

Best wishes,

Desmond

Hi @DGC,

Yes, best to see your doctor first about this. They will be able to tell if it is right for you in your circumstances and if it will react with anything else you are taking.

OK, Thomas, that’s what I’ll do. However, I don’t really expect them to know much more about the subject!
