Result help and treatment inquiry

Hello @availlant

My qhbsag level was as follows:

When I started NUC it was at 1442…
after 14 months it went up to 1661…after 7 months it is reduced from 1661 to 1372… this reduction is high…

From the day I started NUC (18 months ago), the total reduction is at 72iu/ml…

Now, standing at 1372iu/ml is low… what is your take away from this reduction or fluctuating… any indication for future Hep b seroconversion?

Will PEG ifn help me or am I good candidate to take it? Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help…:

FYI… I have appointment with Dr. Robert Gish next month to get his thoughts as well…

Thnx for your time and help!

Dear @Nass,

Thanks for sharing your results. My impression of the levels is that this is not a very significant fluctuation and could be within the error of the assay itself. It’s usually when levels change by 10-fold is that a big enough signal to really be sure it is a change within the virus in the liver.

Dr. Gish is a fantastic expert in the field and his opinion will be well informed when you meet him. You are in good hands!

Thanks…

10 fold means to me from 1372 down to 150…so I should not pay attention to this until it goes as low as 150…

what’s your opinion about trying to switch to PEG IFN with NUCs with this low level of HBSAG quantity 1372?

Thanks

Hi @Nass,
I think what @ThomasTu meant by levels changed by 10-folds is that if your numbers go up by that much. So let’s say your value is at 1372, and suddenly it goes up to 10,000 or higher that might be something of concern. It is always good if it goes down and stays low, we don’t want it creeping higher. I hope this helps. Bansah1

Hi @nass,

My understanding is that there isn’t really a robust cut-off level of HBsAg to decide whether you are likely to do well on interferon or not.
